BUYING BOOKS

Where can I buy Adarna books?

Adarna House books are available in our bookshops in Quezon and North Luzon, from our VisMin distributor, in our online bookshop and in all leading bookstores nationwide.

When is the Adarna House bookshop open?

Our Quezon City bookshop is open from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Saturday, except for public holidays and Christmas break.

How do I go to the Adarna House bookshop in Quezon City?

Option 1. From Delta (the corner of West and Quezon Avenues), take a jeep heading to Project 2 and 3. The jeep will make a right turn to Tomas Morato. When you see Chili's on your right, get off. Take the street across (between Mesa and Baang Coffee). Our office would be at the next corner, to your left.

Option 2. Take a bus that is heading to or coming from Philcoa. Get off at East/Timog Avenue (GMA intersection). Take a jeep with a Cubao Arayat signboard. This jeep will make a left at a gas station (Scout Ybardolaza Street). After it does, count three streets and get off at Scout Fernandez Street (Sacred Heart Church). Do not cross, just walk along Scout Fernandez until you see The Raya School. Our building is right beside Raya.

Option 3. For those taking a cab or using a private vehicle, please refer to Google Maps.

COMPANY and PRODUCT INFORMATION

Why is your company named after the mythical bird?

In the late 1970s, the Nutrition Center of the Philippines approached Virgilio S. Almario to spearhead their Mental Feeding Program. Viewing the lack of educational opportunities as a disease, a book series was launched bearing the name Aklat Adarna to evoke the folk creature’s healing powers. The program ended too soon for Almario who continued publishing the series through the Children's Communication Center (CCC). But because of its many publications for children, CCC eventually needed its own distributor and publisher. Thus, in 1980, Adarna House was born.

Are all Adarna books storybooks?

Though storybooks are our most popular products, our catalog also includes board books, preschool books and posters, young adult fiction, comics, activity books, and non-fiction—manuals and reference materials—for children and adults.

Does Adarna House have a mascot?

Yes, we do. Pilandok, from our adventure series featuring the Meranaw folk character, usually attends our special events. Pilandok is the local term for ‘mouse deer.’
