WiKAHON is a collection of leveled readers designed to help children develop reading and writing skills in Filipino and English. Developed with literacy experts, Felicitas Pado, PhD, and Portia Padilla, PhD, it supports children, parents, and teachers on the journey to independent reading.
WiKAHON is available in three levels, in both English and Filipino.
WiKAHON Pre-A (Early Reading)
WiKAHON A (Independent Reading)
WiKAHON B (Proficient Reading)
All WiKAHON Filipino readers were developed using the Adarna House Filipino Text Readability Index (AH FiTRI), a system that quantitatively measures the readability of a Filipino text.
WiKAHON English based its word counts on local materials such as WiKAHON Filipino and the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI), as well as foreign resources like the Informal Reading Inventory and K5 Learning.
WiKAHON's full color readers are full of interesting all-new stories, poems, and expository texts. These stories celebrate Filipino experiences, history, and culture.
Adarna House guarantees that the readers included in WiKAHON are not only developmentally-appropriate content for Filipino children but also aligned with DepEd curriculum.
