Class was in session on August 23, 2025, as Adarna House conducted this year’s first Klasrum Adarna session at Xavier School Nuvali. Almost 200 educators from 74 various academic institutions made the trip to Xavier School’s campus in Canlubang, Calamba city and enthusiastically engaged in various fun and productive activities.
Guest speakers Asst. Prof. Maria Hazelle Preclaro-Ontengco from the UP College of Education, alongside Asst. Prof. Pamela R. Vinoya and Asst. Prof. Rica Joy Redrev S. Ibarra from the UP Integrated School shared their tips for teaching children the basics of reading.
Asst. Prof. Preclaro-Ongtengco explored “the big six of reading:” six essential components of reading instruction that would propel a child’s growth in reading. Meanwhile, Asst. Prof Vinoya and Asst. Prof. Ibarra discussed the Marungko and Fuller teaching approaches, illuminating ways on how to integrate them properly into the classroom.
Our Education Specialist, Teacher Sarah Edjan, also introduced our new and updated version of WiKAHON, Adarna House’s leveled-reading tool, now available in both English and Filipino. Finally, Xavier School Nuvali’s Assistant Principal Ms. Ivy Encinares-Enaje provided an in-depth demo of using the WiKAHON in an actual classroom setting.
